French Onion Soup
Indulge in the timeless elegance of French cuisine with Campbell’s French Onion Soup, made with Campbell’s Real Stock Beef.

1L Campbell’s Real Stock Beef
500g brown onions, thinly sliced
80g butter
1 tbsp plain flour
8 slices of baguette
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
Optional: Thyme leaves to garnish
STEP 1 Place onions in a large saucepan. Add butter and cook, stirring for 20 min until onions are caramelised and golden brown (keep a close eye on the onions as they can catch and burn very quickly).
STEP 2 Add flour and stir for 1 min. Add Campbells Real Stock Beef and bring to the boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 min.
STEP 3 Meanwhile, preheat oven to grill. Place bread slices on a baking tray and toast on one side. Sprinkle over cheese. Grill until melted.
STEP 4 Ladle soup into bowls and top with bread. Garnish with thyme.
